Clarence "Clancy" Lyall, an Easy Company veteran, made a career out of the paratroopers.

He made two combat jumps in Korea and in 1954  he was assigned to the 8th French Parachute Assault Battalion as an adviser. The 8th was in Dien Bien Phu. "Clancy" got out two weeks before the garrison surrended.

He is one of the small number who have FOUR combat jumps.

Surely he is unique in having been a participant in both the Battle of the Bulge and the siege of Dien Bien Phu.

How I started the site in December 2002 :

I am building this site to educate our youth and eventually others (including myself!) and to honor and thank the men who liberated our European countries in WW2.

We can best honor them by teaching our children that living in freedom did not come automatically, but was restored by the efforts and sacrifices of hundreds of thousands of patriots and soldiers during World War II. Expressions of gratitude are never-ending and heartfelt.

The author.

I would also like to address a special THANK YOU, to Tess Stinson (Bend, Oregon)  for all kinds of help she is giving me on this subject ! Of course also a very special THANK YOU to Clancy Lyall himself, to do me the honor allowing me to build his homepage.
